The concept of Mixed Roots was founded over 25 years ago in 1995 and served as a high school cultural diversity student group in Owatonna, MN in which students came together in partnership with the school district administration and staff and was able to organize and successfully get Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day off from school. Since then, the students gathered several times throughout the year to share in Principal breakfasts, after school meet ups and incorporating diversity and multiculturalism in special school programming which still exists today at the Owatonna High School and has also now expanded to the Middle School. The founder, Holly Choon Hyang Bachman (formerly Pettman), a Korean Adoptee, who was adopted from South Korea to a White family in Owatonna, MN drew the below Mixed Roots Poster in her High School art class which now available for purchase. Since the Mixed Roots Cultural Diversity Group back in time, Holly has founded the Mixed Roots Foundation (2011), Mixed Roots Enterprises, Inc. (2018) and now this site to bring everything together – #IAMMIXEDROOTS.COM. Holly’s vision, mission and passion is bringing people together in whatever capacity, so that there will be more peace and unity in the community through the powerful brand of Mixed Roots where we all have #MixedRoots, in which they run very deep, but continues to grow as we intermingle with one another…
