How The Journey To Mixed Roots Started?

Our Story

The journey of bringing forth the brand started 25 years ago, in 1995. At first, it worked as a high school cultural diversity student group in Owatonna, MN, where pupils partnered with the school district admin. Since then, the students started gathering after school to discuss their ideas about implementing diversity and multiculturalism in special school programming.

The founder, Holly Choon Hyang Bachman, is Korean who was adopted by a white family in Owatonna, MN. Because of having a different cultural background from childhood, the sense of #MixedRoots was already provoked in her. She had become part of this diverse group and drew the poster in high school by herself.

Afterward, Holly established the Mixed Roots Foundation in 2011 with the aim of bringing everyone together. She also started Mixed Roots Enterprises, Inc. in 2018 with the hashtag #IAMMIXEDROOTS.COM.

Mission

The vision, mission, and goal is to bring people together in whatever capacity at one platform, so there will be more peace and unity in the community – where we all have #MixedRoots. And where we continue to grow as we intermingle with one another.
